CLIMAX TO LEVIN THEFTS
j VISITOR LOSES LARGE SUM | A climax to the recent wave of ithefts from private residences in Levin was reached during. the week,end, when a handbag containing ; £60 in five pound notes was stolen from a house in Cambridge Street. The victim in this instance was a visitor from Hastings, Mrs. G. V. I Tucker, who is the guest of Mr. and !$lrs, W. J. Frizzell. !. ; ;V,The purse was^fQtind on Siinday fbn a track leahings across the raiiway line, between Cambridge and Oxford Streets, and the wallet from which the notes were taken was ■ located a few yards from this spot by a small girl/ Only the wallet containing the money was interifered with. Documents and other : contents of the handbag were found to be intact. t Mrs. Tucker reported to the j police that she placed the handbag i in top of a suitcase under an open window before going to bed on Sati urday night. She read a book till 1 a.m. and was not aware of her loss : Mll next morning.
