MAGISTRATE'S COURT
MONTHLY SITTING IN LEVIN The monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held in Levin last week, Mr. A. M. Goulding, S.M., presiding. Among the cases dealt with were the following : Doris Adela Tomlinson was fined £2 with costs 10s, for driving a vehicle across a level crossing when an engine was approaching. She wrote pleading guilty to the offence. Driving a vehicle without due care and attention was a charge pre•ferred against David Crozier, retailer, Levin (Mr. N. M. Thomson). He was fined £1 10s, with court costs 13s and witnesses' expenses 7s 6d. Exceeding the speed limit at Weraroa on September 28 cost Douglas Stanley Robertson, farmer, of Rangiotu, £4 and costs 10s. He wrote pleading guilty to the offence.' A charge of failing to dip his headlights when driving a vehicle at Weraroa on September 27 was preferred against Robert Miller Stewart, company director, Palmerston North. He was convicted and fined 10s, plus court costs of i 10s. | Judgment by default was entered in the following civil case: L. R.« Jamison v. C. J. Harrison £25, costs £1 12s, solicitor's fee £2 11s 6d
