In view of her winning form over the distance at Te Hapa tlie previous week, United Nations was oue of the faucied division for major haudicap hunours at Avondale last Saturday, but she was uot a dangerous factor towards tlie close, although she di'd flatter the hopes of her supporters to tlie tuni wliere she was racing in a promiuent position. However, in mitigation, it can be said that she did uot have tlie best. of luck in the runniug in that she was forced over extra ground, several horses out most of the way. The Gisborne mare I was responsible for an impressive trial at Avondale on Tuesday morning and it would occasion no surprise if she made amends lor last week 's fuilure in tlie Plumpton llandicap on Saturday.
