QUICK HANDLING OF RETURNS
HAMILTON, Nov. 28. While Mrs. H. C. Ross (National) leads Mr. J. Granville (Labour) by a majority of 209 in Hamilton there ar'e still 1077 absentee and declaration votes to be counted. Tlie speed with vvliich tlie returns from the Hamilton electorate were counted and made available is probably a record for New Zealand. Tlie first return was in the hands of the returning otticer (Mr. H. P. Reid) at 7.8 p.m. and the final return was completed at 7.24 p.m. Over 12,000 votes were cast.
