REDUCED CALIBRE AGREED TO Received Monday, 12.15 pm WASHINGTON, Nov. 24. Britain is reported to have agreed to reduce the calibre of the standard Enfield anny rifle from .303 to .30, thereby permitting the use of _Amencan cartridges as a first step in the standardisation of British and American weapons. Slow progress is being made in the current discussions. Major factors causing the delay are the accumulated war stocks and British reluctance to adopt thr metric system, which the United 3tates insists on retaining.
