CAR CRASHES INTO POLE
AUCKLAND, Nov. 23. A car taking a woman from North Auckland to an Auckland suburban matornity liospital, strnck a power pole several miles from its destination and the prospectix'e matcrnitv patient suffered a fractured thigh. Her husband, who was also a passenger, received etfnfussion and abrasions. The woman was -Mrs. Rita Kelsej' Hill, aged 35, of Hakaru, North Auckland. Her husband, Edvrard Russell Hill, aged 41, is a farmer. The car, whicli was driven by Mrs. A. AV. Leslie, of Kawakawa, skidded in loose gravel at a bend in the road, smashing into the pole which broke in half, one section penetrating the windscreen between the woman driver and Mrs. Hill. Mr. and Mrs. Hill were admitted to Auckland Hospital, the wife's condition being serious.
