Train Strikes Light Car

AUCKLAND, Nov. 24. Three oecupants of a motor cAr were killed aild a fonrth was slightly injured in' a level erossing coliision with the southboniid express goods train just north of Hangatiki railway station near Te Kuiti yesterday afternoon. Tle car, a light model, was cnt in two and the occupants thrown varyifig distances. The victims were : — jfeilled Albert Byrnes, aged 50, gardener, of Morrinsville. William Ross Ritchie, aged S-S, electrician, of Morrinsville. "William George Sander^, aged 41; line foreman, of Morrinsville. Injured. John Maepherson, aged' 23, elerk, of Morrinsville. He received nuts and bruises and his condition is not serious. All the victims were single men. The car was travellmg from Otorohanga to Te Kuiti and took a detonr across the railway because the main road is under rec.onstruction. The train and car collided with terrific. impact, half the car being hurled across the fiearby main road and the other half being dropped at the erossing.
