CALF AND LAMB REARING
PRELIMINARY JUDGING HOROWHENUA COMPETITIONS During the past week the preliminary judging of calves and lambs in the annual competitions conducted by the Horowhenua Boys' and Girls'. Agricultural Club has been carried out at a number of schools in this district. The finai judging will take piace at the Levin School on December 6. The results of the preliminary judging to date are as follows: — Ohau Senior. — Care and attention : Kenneth Halton's Dianoli 1, Mona Catley's Barberry 2, Marion Bishop's Hume 3. Best dairy type: Marion Bishop's Hume. Junior. — Care and attention: Jennifer Burnell's Mercia 1, Len Barnes' Gladness 2, Roger Horn's Princess 3. Lamb rearing: Eileen Pilgrim's Spot 1, Lorna Pilgrim's Darnlie 2, Clive Patching's Jean 3. v The judge was Mr. C. E. C. Webb and the associate judge Mr. J. Penny. Manakau Senior. — Care and attention: Brian Bregman's Shadow 1, Elizabeth Horn's Bambi's Pride 2, Bruce Nicholson's Rose 3. Best dairy type: Brian Bregmen's Shadow. Junior. — Care and attention: Graeme Ireland's Judy 1, Henry Nielsen's Star 2, Harold Phillips' Jill 3. Lamb rearing: Margaret King's Sally 1, Garry Phillips' Caesar 2. Mr. B. R. Robinson's halter for pupils who had not previously been placed was won by Harold Phillips. Mr. J. H. P. Waikanae Senior. — Care and attention: Shirley Mowbray 1. Best dairy cype: Shirley Mowbray 1. Junior. — Care and attention: Clarke Smith 1, Lily Nimmo 2, Agnes Nimmo 3. Lamb rearing: Colin Mowbray 1, Mavis Upshall 2, Lorraine Russell 3. The judge was Mr. H. J. Lancaster, while Messrs. A. - Horn and F. Catley were the associates. Paraparaumu Senior. — Care and attention: Peggy Woodman's Edna 1, Joan Walton's Daisy 2, Valerie Potts' Lucille 3. Best dairy type: Joan Walton's Daisy. Junior. — Care and attention: Anne MacLean's Frisky 1, Naumi Mowbray's Jenny 2, Wenda Potts' Robin 3. Lamb' rearing: Hunia Jobe's Snowball 1, Noel Hopping's Peter 2, Ray Wood's Topsy 3.
