FAREWELL FUNCTION
PRESENTATtON TO MR. B. M. ARMSTRONG Informality marked a gathering in the R.S.A. clubrooms last nighx,. when members of the War Memorial Campaign Committee of the Levin branoh of the Returned Bervices' Association farewelled Mr.. B. M. Armstrong, supervisor of the Levin Post Office, who is leaving soon to take the positton of postmaster at Taupo. Seated with the guest of honour, was the president of the branch, Mr. H. J. Lancaster,, the vice-president, Dr. L. J. Hunter, and the pb'strhast'ef, Mr. L. A. Whitham. The hall was attrae-, fcively arranged. and supper was supervised by Messrs. P. Young and L. J. Allen. When proposing a toast to the guest, Mr. Lancaster said the committee felt that it could not let Mr. Armstrong leave Levin without first expressing its appreciation of the services rendered by him. Mr. Armstrong had been an active member of the committee, and his wife had also been a willing assistant at all the branch's functions, and an enthusiastic member of the dance committee. The branch would miss their services very much. He concluded" by wishing Mr. Armstrong every success in his new post, and hoped that both he and Mrs. Armstrong would find time to be present at the openmg of the proposed memorial hall. On behalf of the committee he presented Mr. Armstrong with a smoker's stand and a bouquet of flowers for Mrs. Armstrong. When replying, Mr. Armstrong: thanked the committee for the gifts and added that he had oniy been too pleased to do what he could, both on the Memorial Hall Committee and as a member of the branch. He said he hoped the hall would go up in record time, and that he would have the pleasure of being present at the opening ceremony.
