Received Thursdav, 7.40 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. .14. Adverse roports .about living conditions of Australian troops in Japar had been grcatlv exaggerated, accord ing to soldiers just returned to Aus tralia on leave. The general opinion was that while tliere were no anienitiei for the first few months, tliere had been a gradual improvement. Nearly all of tlie leave draft of 882 have sign ed up for another# two years' Army service ineluding 18 months in Japan. A sergeant said the biggest disap pointment was the laclc of books and sporting material. Every night when the English and New Zealand Government newsreels were shown, the troojis cried: "What, no Australian."'
