AUCKLAND, Nov. 13. A reduction of 20 per cent. in engs available to retailers will become elfective from next Monday. This decision was made today at a meeting of- the Auckland Egg Marketing Committee which expects that a further eut will have to be made either before or after Christmas. Tlie committee is also asking for an incrcase of 2d a dozen to help to meet higli costs. It was deeided to send the following resolution to the Prime Minister: "That the Auckland Egg Marketing Committee views with deep eoncern the continued deerease in the intake of eggs to distributors' floors amounting to 258,664 dozen eggs in tlrn iive months from June to October, 1946, inelusive, compai|ed with the corresponding period in 1945.^ It is sugges.ted that the request of the Poultrv Board for an increase of 2d a dozen be implemented immediately. ' ' It was stated after the meeting that the drop in pToduetion was caused bv filre liiglr costs of foodstuffs which had resulted in many produeers redueing the Size of their floeks. The intake of eggs in tlie Auckland district this week was 15,000 dozen less tlian last week.
