WELLINGTON, Nov. 13. An annoiincement that Mrs. Claud'e Weston, widow of Mr. C. H. Westofi, K.G., had accepted nominaiion as the National eandidate for Wellington Gentral- elector'ate, was made by the chairman of the el'ectorate committee, Mr. E. J. Arlow, after a meeting of the- cominiftee tonigh'f. Mr. Arlow said MrS. Weston had felt she had a res'p'onsib'ility in takiii'g up the' cause fo -which her hushand had dedicated himself and had ffiereTofe volCinteered h'er services; ' 'We feel- Mrs. Weston has shown a pnhl'ic splfited attititde which will be appreciafecl ii'ot only in the el'ectorate hut also throughout New Zealand," said' Mr. Arlow. "For although we knoW she wou'ld have preferred not to" undeftake' any public activitj.es after the great and sudden loss she: has Sitflere'd, she ieels she has a duty which she cannot disregard."
