WEDDING BELLS

HITCHINGS— TKILFORD A pretty wedding took place at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Levin, recently, when Mavis Annie, only daughter o'f Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Trilford, of Main Street, Foxton, was married to iGeorge Thomas, only son of Mrs. and the late Mr. T. L. Hitchings, of Levin. The ceremony was solemnised by Rev. A. Salmond, while Miss' Elsie Anderson played the wedding music. The church had been artistically decorated with rhododendrons, sweet peas and arum lilies by Miss Evelyn Hitchings and Miss M. McCartney. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a beautiful cream embossed satin frock, with heart-shaped neckline and trimmed with orange blossom. Her headgear was of freesias and hyacinths, while she carried a bouquet of lily-of-the-valley, freesias, hyacinths and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her two c'ousins, Misses Betty and Peggy Trilford of Wellington, who were frocked alike in cyclamen georgette over taffeta, made on the same lines as the bride's. They wore blue feathers in their hair and carried bouquets of cyclamen, anemones, sweet peas and hyacinths. The flower girl, Cynthia Jebb, Qf Petone, also a cousin of the bride's, was attired in a blue organdie frock, trimmed with cyclamen velvet ribbon. She carried a basket of the same flowers as those which comprised the bridesmaids' bouquets.

The bridegroom had as bestman his cousin, Mr. P. McKay, of Hastings, while Mr. P. Jack, of Levin, was groomsman. The ushers at the church were Messrs. G. Martin and W. Watson. About 130 guests were subsequently entertained in Williams' Reception Rooms, where the customary toasts were honoured. The bride's mother received her guests in a frock of lime green, with wool georgette edge-to-edge coat and matching hat and accessories. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, who chose a grey costume, pink blouse and black accessories. During the reception Mrs. Goldsmith, of Ohau, sang "I'll Walk Beside You," while at the church she rendered "Because." A dance followed the reception in the St. Mary's Hall, where a very enjoyable evening was spent. When the happy couple left for their honeymoon the bride was wearing a navy costume, with white blouse and navy accessories.
