SUCCESS OF BOTTLE DRIVE

SCOUT JAMBOREE FUND Owing to the magnificent response to the appeal for bottles, the Levin scouts were only able to cover about half the borough in their drive on Saturday last. Even so, the Drill Hall seemed full of bottles of all shapes and sizes on Saturday night, and the scouts, assisted by a number of volunteers were busy sorting them. Outside on the grass were more bottles, and at the end of the hall was a truck fully loaded with cases of those which had been sorted. At the opposite end of the hall was a huge pile of old newspapers, which some of the boys were arranging and tying into bundles. Thanks are due to a number of people who assisted, some of them spending the entire day with the scouts, and to the public for its response. It is hoped to continue the bottle drive on Saturday, November 16, and residents on whom the scouts have not yet called are invited to hold their bottles until then.
