A series of confcrences today 1)0 tween the -Minister of .Supply and Ship ping, Senator Ashley, and intereste/l parties, is clearing the way for a complete settlemont of waterside disputes. The first deeision has been that all interstate vesscls will lie worked from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. in order of importance. Should this prove successful it will be probably regarded as the normal method of working. Membership iigures of the Sydne\ branclv of the Waterside Workers Fed-

Stevedores may be brought from other States to lielp shift cargoes liank ed up on the Sydney wharves due to the reeent wa'terfront strike. Today about 80 overseas and inter-State ships will require labour to discharge about 100,000 tons of cargo, and there is no c ha uce of the demaiul being met. Hes pite a reusonable oil'ering, over 40 ship:were without labour on Saturday. No action has yet been takou againsi the watersiders who refused to work from I) p.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridav, though provision for this extra time is made in the existing award. These men will re port for work as usual today. At Maekav, queensland, watersiderr who refused to unload cauelield fei'til iser from the Port Lincoln will meet to determine their future conduct.
