NARROW ESCAPE FROM FIRE

HOLE BURNT IN .SHOP WALL The premises of Mr. G. Cooper, hairdresser, Levin, narrowly escaped serious damage by fire during the week-end, when a portion of the half-inch match lining on the wall of the saloon caught fire. The fire occurred immediately behind the electric califont, which was last used by ofie of the staff on Saturday morning. A large hole was burnt in the lining, exposing a brick wall separating the building with other premises. The fire apparently burnt itself out before further damage was done, which was fortunate as the building is situated in a closely built area in Oxford Street. The damage was not discovered till this morning, as the shop has been closed during the week-end.
