OPIKI'S MEETING
| At the October meeting of the J Opiki Women's Institute, held t recently> Mrs. Claridge presided | over a very good attendance of members. One new member, Mrs. 'Palmer, and one visitor, Mrs. McjNab, of Masterton, were welcomed. Members were asked for articles | for display in the stall at the f orthjcoming A. and P. Show. Several I remits were discussed for the halfyearly council meeting. Mrs. Wilde read a report on the daffodil show. The roll call for the day was "Sing, say, play or pay." The Makerua Road Glee Club members sang two items, . A competition arranged by Mrs. Kriven was won by Mrs. GordonSmith. Monthly competitions resulted: — Handerchief made from a salt bag: Mrs. Irwin 1, Mrs. Wilde 2, Miss Sames 3. Bloom: Mrs. Robinson 1, Miss Wils'on 2, Mrs. Aitchison 3. Cluster: Mrs. Kriven 1, Miss Wilson 2, Mrs. Wilde 3. Shoulder spray: Mrs. Irwin. Spring cabbage: Mrs. Irwin.' Next month 's competitions will be prettiest cream jug or milk jug, best bloom, cluster and three broad beans. Hostesses will be Mesdames Gregory, Horn and Gosling.
