GISBORNE, Oct. 24. Doug Rolliiisou (Auckland), 12.3, knocked out Bobby Clarke (Australia), 11.12, in tlie sixth. of a sclieduled tenround ligkt-keavyweight contest ataged tonight by tlie Gisborne Boxing Association. Rollinson fouglit confidently througkout and walked into tlie Australian's best punches witlxout flineliing, to get home liis powerful rights. Clarke won tke first by a narrow margin but lost the lead in the second. He stopped several hard punches late in the fourth and the gong found hiin sagging on the ropes. He fought gamely in the fifth but could not Jfight Rollinson off and was distressed at the close. The opening of the sixth gave the Aucklander his opportunity and he downed Clarke three tiines, twice for nine and the third time for keeps. Jack Heeney refereed. INVERCARGILL, Oct. 24. Cliff Hanham, formerly undefeated middle and light-heavy champion of New Zealand, returned to the ring tonight after a short retirement and knocked out Darcy Hoffman, of Invercargill, in the ninth round of a ten rounds bout. Hoffman was down twice in the first round for counts of seven and nine. In the fifth round Hoffman was saved by the gong. He was knocked through the ropes in the sixth and was down in the erghth for a count of eight. Hoffman gave a great display of gameness but was no match for Hanham who provided a first class exhibition of all round boxing. Their weights were: Hanham 11.5, Hoffman 12.3.
