It was decided at a meeting todav that auv stewanl found acce]>ting tips would l)e instantly dis missed. "It has been brought to our notice that there have been instances of ti}) ping bv gustoiners, " said the chairman. Alr. Ilugh Ritchie. "This praetice is not aceording to the ctistom of the Trust and we are going to stanip it out. ' ' Information from America showed that tho tipping praetice was becoming 4 a menace, Alr. Ritchie added. There ' the position had reached the stage where the ordiiiarv rank and lile who could not alford to tip a waiter. were unable to obtain many of the driuks availabie. ■ Alembers of tlie Trust agreecl that often stewards were placed m an awk ward position as some persons insisted on tipping them. However, the Trust was determined to prevent the praetice growing in Trust liotels.
