PARAPARAUMU NOTES

FLUNKET SOCIETY'S FUNCTION (From "Chronicle" Correspondent) Favoured by a delightful sunny afternoon, the Raumati branch of the Plunket Society held a very successful garden party at "Reo Moana," the beautiful grounds of Mr. and Mrs. Hammon of Raumati Beach. There was a large attendance. Music was provided by the Scots College Pipe Band, and was much appreciated by old and young Alan McKinnon, accompanied by Piper Henderson, dancea the Highland fling, and Pat Muir and Peggy Stewart the sword dance and sheantrubas. Frank McKinnon, a piper of tender years, ably playecl "Highland Laddie" and "The Barren Rocks." Several little girls in white satin topped frocks and frilly skirts danced the "Dance of the Tiny Toys." The soloist was Jacqueline Hooker and the fairies were Prudence Logan, Jill JLOgan, Tania Eatwell, Vania- Eatwell, Elizabeth Head, Janice Woon, Star Leckie, Shona McKenzie, Kathleen Page and Lesley Whitfield. The ballet in "Anitras' Dance" comrised Dawn Cotterill, Jacqueline Hooper, Ann Collins and Mary Lynch. The cake stall, which did exceedingly well, was in • charge of Mrs. Miners, the jumble and junk stall, Mrs. Fortune; produce, Mesdames Collins and Darke; fancy work stall, Mesdames Whitfield, Brooker and Seaton ; side-shows and throwing the golf ball, Dennis Boyd and Robin Randall; skittles, Vernon Drake; sweets, Mesdames Kerr, Nicolson and Bowker. The afternoon tea stall was kept very busy; it was in charge of Mrs. Tustin and her willing team of helpers. The baby show, in charge of Mr. F. H. Clarkson, was done on the voting system, £7 13s being taken in, penny votes. The winning babies were: Baby Bowker 1, Baby Tustin 2, Baby Whitfield 3. All those who helped to make the function such an enjoyable and profitable one for- the Plunket funds were waxmly thanked. There was no doubt that much hard work and thoughtful planning had been expended on the effort. The sum of over £100 was raised.
