WELLINGTON, Oct. 14. Two strongly barred dooTS had to be broken open before two detectives could enter a room in a building at 157 Featherston Street, on Saturday al'ternoon, said Senior Detective E. H. Comptou in the Magi.strate 's Court today, when bookmaking eharges were preferred against Jack Hughes, agent, aged 38, and Jack Edward Reeves, billiard marker, aged 28, who pleaded guilty and were finOd £100 and £50 respectively by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M. Bets totalling £1593 had been taken up to 4.30 p.m. when the detectives arrived.
