^ BOAT capsizes in river

WANGAJNUl, UCU. lit. . When their flat-bottomed bpati sapsized in the Wanganui River iate yesterday afternoon two men iisappeared and it is believed they Vyere drowned. A search last evening and this morning has not located their bodies. They were: Waiter Edward George Beamsley, aged 32, single, freezing worker, of Gonville. , 00 . Aiex Mathieson, aged smgle, tnotor mechanic, of Gonville. A thmd occupant of the boat, Mrs. Ruth Annie Gruhb, swam ashpre, having suffered little from her experienpe. , . , , . - The boatload, Which mcluded an Alsatlon dog, crossed the river earlier in the afternoon for a lpad of firewood, and was returning to Gonville when the boat capsized. Mrs. Grubb reached an island in mid-stream, and was later helped ashore by a Maori boy. When she reached the island she saw Mathieson sitting on the overturned boat and saw Beamsley come to the surface, but both disappeared.
