Personal Father Buckley, Island Bay, has been renewing acquaintances in Otaki. Miss June Ryder, Shannon, has been the guest of her grandfather, Mr. F. Ryder. Mrs. B. Ryder and Mrs. J. Ballinger are Otaki visitors to Auckland for the spring meeting. Miss Marion Thompson is on vacation in the South Island. Appreciation of the work of Mr. L. G. Lowry, M.P., as chairman of the Maori Affairs Committee, was expressed in a resolution of the committee reported to the House of Representatives on Thursday. The Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, said that Mr. Lowry, although still in hospital, in Rotorua, was making very good progress towards recovery. Mr. W. K. Berry, president of the Otaki Boy Scouts, has tendered his resignation on account of his notice of transfer to Waipukurau, where he will be appointed postmaster. The resignation was received with regret, it being recognised that Mr. Berry had done valuable work in connection with the scouts. A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Berry, wishing him and Mrs. Berry every success in their new quarters. Scouts' Exhibition Large numbers of entries have been received from the staff and patients at the Otaki Sanatorium, and from school children, for the exhibition to be held on October 19.
