BOWLING GREEN OPENED
RAUMATI SOUTH CLUB Bright sunshine and a pleasantly warih afternoon, together with an excellent green, greeted the 250 bowlers and visitors who attended the opening of the Raumati South Bowling green on„ Saturday last. Bowlers and visitors were welcomed at the gate by the president (Mr. W. Bromley) and vice-president (Dr. D. Paterson). The opening speech was made by the president, who paid tribute to all those who had assisted in the work of preparing the green and surrounds for the coming year's play. He was followed by Mr. B. Guise, past president bf the Wellington centre, who made appropriate remarks on behalf of the centre. The silver kitty was put down by Mrs. Stan Moffatt, the first bowl being played by the oldest member of the club, Mr. A. Hawkins, which in the time-honoured custom .proved a touchdr, • Dr. Paterson pfesented sprays to Mrs. Bromley, Mrs. Moffatt and Mrs. Guise. Play was then indulged in and the green voted to be in excellent condition. A sumptuous afternoon tea was dispensed in the pavilion by a willing band of ladies, to whom the club's thanks are due. "
