MEETING OF COM1Y1ITTEE A meeting of the Shannon War Memorial Hall 'Committee and thosp members x>£'tlie public who will assist the "members with the collection of funds , met in the Council Chambers on Wednesday evening. Mr. R. R. Lind presided and those present were: Messrs. R. Hook, V. J. Bateman, J. Sinclair, H. Aitchison ( committee ' members ) and Messrs. R. S. Downes, A. R. Mills, G, G. Mitchell and B. Gordon. Apologies were received from Messrs. A. S. Hyde, J. McNeile, R. Scanlon, J. D. Campbell, D. Higgie and S. W. Barber. The secretary (Mr. V. J. Bateman) advised that Mr. D. Higgie had replaced Mr. I. Easton as a collector in Area 5. Mr. R. Lind gave a brief outline to those who were to assist the committee of what had been carried out and what it was intended doing. Mr. Lind stated that it was the intention of the committee to get the collecting completed as soon as possible. It was decided that a circular letter would be sc-nt to each householder in the district prior to the collection, pointing out just what was the object of the committee in making the collection. It is expected that the collection will be carried out between October 28 and November 4. It was decided to leave the preparing of the circular in the hands of the president, secretary and Mr. R. Hook. The secretary reported that the receipt books had been printed and were to hand. These would be distributed to collectors at a later date.
