STATE RECEPTION FOR V.C. WINNER

WELLINGTON, Oct. S. Squadron Leader L. 11. Trent, V.C., D.F.G., was accorded a State reeeption at Parliament House today. There was a large and representative gathering including most ministers of the Crown, members of Parliament and lieads of services. Tlie Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, roferred to the pride New Zealand i'elt in her eiglit winners of the Victoria ('ross in this war, three of them by members of the Air Force and live by the Army. The Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, rc-ferred to iSquadron Leader Trent 's flying career in New Zealand and overseas and read the citation for his award. " Squadron Leader Trent tells rne his wife is liking New Zealand and that his (laughter doesn't want to go back to England," said Mr. Jones, "so the onlv thing for liim to do is to stay here," Tlie audience applauded the Minister's suggestion. Squadron Leader Trent said his future plans were indefinite but if his wife had anything to do with it, they would probablv stay in Nelson. "Anv intentions I had of returning to England seem to have been squashed," he said.
