N earlv 2000 inquiries were received for the 200 vacancies and these were seeded to 600 proniising ap plications from which the tinal selection was inade. By arrangements with the British Ministrv of Health no trained mental nurses are being sent to New Zealaiul under the scheine. This restriction was necessury owing to the acnte shortage of trained nurses in Britain.
