One open sports meeting was held during the year, for which record antries were received, competitors from the whole of the West Coast; centre taking part. This was an outstanding success from all points of view, the close finishes in all events reflecting great credit on ihe club's handicapper, Mr.. J. H. Cooper. The prdfit from this meeting was £33 6s 7d. "The club had a membership of 37 registered members during the season, who represented the club at the weekly club nights at Otaki and other sports meetings in the district. Representatives also competed at the West Coast championships at Palmerston North, two lady members gaining certificates. It is with much pleasure that I sm able to state that the club commences the new season with a credit balance of £51 19s." General Matters Upon resuming the chair, Mr. Cribb thanked those present for electing him for a further term, and remarked that the confidence placed by members in the officials of the club was a tribute to them as nearly all had been re-elected. He assured members that they would do all they could to make the local club one of the leaders on the coast. Mr. W. Anderson moved that the work of the St. John Ambulance be placed on record, and that a donarion of £2 2s be forwarded to the brigade. Other members added further remarks to the resolution, which was carried unanimously. . Mr. E. J. Stanley, manager of the Levin Boys' Training Centre, said he wished to place on record the deep appreciation of the young men, staff and himself for the treatment accorded them by the club last season, when boys from the farm eompeted at the evening meetings. In replying to Mr. Stanley, the president said it was a pleasure to have the boys with them, and that a vote of thanks was due to them for preparing the eycle track prior to the open meeting. "I think the public should know, said Mr. Cribb, "that the boys conducted themselves as true sports, and their help was much appreciated; they were courteous and well mannered young men, and reflect great credit on Mr. Stanley and his staff." Subscription Fees A lively discussion took place on the subscription fees, especially the honorary members' subscription, which in the past has been 2s 6d. Some members maintained that this was too cheap, while others pointed out that although the subscription was only" 2s 6d, the honorary members supported the club by way of the collection box at ihe weekly club nights, and they should not be asked for more. After the secretary (Mr. Cooper) had given the amount subscribed by honorary members and the number, it was shown that the average given by them was 7s 6d. It was accordingly carried that the subscription fees, which are the cheapest of any club in New Zealand, remain the same as last year. Weekly Club Nights After racing on Monday nights for several seasons, the club is to change to Tuesdays for its weekly meetings. A. club member, speaking on' the matter, reported interviewing several members • of the P.N. A.A. and C.C., who expressed their willingness to come to Levin

to ride. As Mr. Stagpole, the presi--dent of the P.N. Club, had also intimated that they intended to travel to other evening meetings this season, it was decided on the motion of Mr. R. Murray, secondsd by Mr. C. Batten, that in the interests of fostering inter-club sport, Levin make the change as above. The president said it would also be in the interests of the Levin Club to travel to other meetings this year, and it was left in the hands of the committee to make arrangements. The opening night for the Levin Club was fixed for November 5. Fostering Club in Shannon Several members spoke in favour of the club doing all it could to revive an amateur athletic and cycling club in Shannon. The president remarked that it was the club's duty to lend all possible assistance it could for the l'ormation of a club in Shannon, and it was left in the hands of the president, secretary and Messrs. Stanley and Murray to make arrangements to convene a meeting at an early date for the purpose. Weekly Points Prize It was decided this year to award Doints prizes after each four meetings, as well as the trophy for the ieason's points winner. This is a progressive step and one that will . ,i find favour with all competitors. ^ ; v . Mrs. M. Dorne said that at this year's meetings it was possible that • fceams of young ladies would compete in the various events, and it would be much appreciated if a lady coach could be found who would come forward and -lend • assistance in the training and care ! of these teams. A most enthusiastic meeting i concluded with a hearty vote of i. thanks to the chair.
