CHH1STCHUHOH, Oct. 3. Simultaueous witli the slrowiug ot the maiu iiliu, an outbreak of Jire iti Ihe lloxy Tlieatrc at New Brighton last night, threatened to cause sorious dam age. Fortunately the lire was noticeu before it liad got ltold. Tlic audiencc of about 200 persons was elearpd frou. the theatre without panic. Firemeii quickly attacked the outbreak and pul it out in a few minutes. The firt caused some damage to a section of the stage but the sound system and screon nearby escaped the flames. The tin was cauglit in timo by the iiremen wlu ' arrived at the theatre promptty aftei Ihe alarm was given. First to nolice Ihe outbreak was the manager of thc theatre, Mr. E. D. Johnston. He at tacked it with a bucket pump but tliis proved unavailing. He then gave the alarm by telephone. The picture Avas kept running as long as possible to divert the attention of the audience. Then the lights were turned on and the staff conducted tlie audience quietly from the theatre.
