GOVERNMENT WANTS TO TAKE STOCK
WELLINGTON, Oct. 3. The Government would not consider any extension of 194(5 licences, beyond Alarch 31 next and in all likelihood 1947 licences would expire on December 31, 1947, aeeording to information given to a meeting of tlie council of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce by Mr. W. H. Hindle. The Government, he said, wanted to be able to take stock of the position and see what calls were like.ly on its exchange i*esources at a given da^te, a tliing it had not been able to do before. Mr. Barton Ginger said that if the Government claniped down on December 31, 1947, pi'obably only about twothirds of the licences would be used. Tlie wliole licemsing system at the monient was in a state of cliaos.
