CIVIC FAREWELL ARRANGED
At -.a' welF-attended public meet- | ing held in the Couneil Chambers j on Monday evening it was agreed j that a civic farewell should be ! extendod to Mr. and Mrs. F. Thursj ton, who are shortly to leavs the i dLstrict. The Mayor (Mr. R. E. Downes) in outlining the purpose of the meet- : ing, maclc referenc'e to the fine work both Mr. and Mrs. Thurston had done for the town. Other i speakers also voiced regret that Mr. and Mrs. Thurston were to ; lcave Shannon. N i Following a discussion, it was j decided that the farewell should tako the form of a social evening with dancing and musical and vocal items. Strong committees j were set up to handle the various ' arrangements. It was agreed that ; the social should be held in the Druids* Hall on Thursday, October 10.
