MANGAORE GOLF
Owing to the unfavourable weai ther conditions there was no play j in the mid-we'ek competitions at ' Mangaore last Wednesday. 1 Ideal weather prevailed over the I week-end and there was a good gathering of members on the links ! both on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. A sealed hole competii tion was played on Saturday and I the following were the results: — jLadies: Mesdames Baker 76, Beech ! 82, Lester 77, Robinson 80, Miss L. Beech 84. Men: Messrs. A. Simes ! 67, Lester 70, D. Simes 70, Baker 71, Robinson 80, Tavendale 84, J. ■ Beech 85. i The second round of the men's handicap championships was comj pleted over the weekend and the ' following were the results of the | games played: — First round: D. i Simes defeated T. Boon one up, J. , Baker defeated R. Lester one up, A. ' Robinson defeated A. Simes two up j and one to play, J. Beech defeated ; D. Pigott two up and one to play, ; N. Birch won by default from C. ' Elvines, D. Higgie a bye. Second round: D. Simes defeated J. Beech I three up and two to play, J. Baker defeated A. Robinson five up and three to play; N. Birch and D. Higgie have yet to play their match.
