Both sides attempted to open up the play from all angles but tlie majority of these efforts brolce down or were not well eonceived. The result was a great deal of scrappy plav. Wellington were better ablo to capitalise on the faults of their opponents and rallied better on defence. On the wliole the match was a disappointing display in which the issue seldom appeared in doubt. Tries were-seored for Wellington by Svenson, O'Brien, Burke, Colquhoun and Mason, Wishnowsky converting three. Rankine and O 'Neill scored for Canterbury and Kelly kicked a penalty. 0
