SOUTHLAND'S UNBROKEN RECORD.

INVERCARGILL, Sept. 29. The Southland Rugby team capped a season of strenuous Rugby on Saturday by defeating North Otago in the fifth and final Ranfurly Shield match by 15 points to 3. North Otago threW out a strong ehallenge and for 25 minutGS of the first half, aided by a strong easterly wind, led the shield holders by three points. Thereafter, although Southland were not allowed to reproduee their best form, the result did not appear to be in doubt. By their suecess Southland completed the season with an unbeaten record. Points for Southland were scored by Sutherland (two tries), Prendeville (try), Hazlett (try), and Webster (penalty goal). Wright kicked a penalty goal for North Otago.
