WAR MEMORIAL HALL
COMMITTEE HOLDS MEETING A meeting of the Wai* Memorial Hall Committee was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday evening. The committee, which comprises Messrs. R. R. Lind, V. J. Bateman, R. Hook, H. Aitchison and J. Sinclair, was presided over by Mr. Lind. It was agreed that a meeting fhould be arranged between members of the committee and those assistants who will help with the ?ollection of funds throughout the district. The date set down for this meeting was Wednesday, October 9. The district was divided off into flve sections, with a member of the committee and two assistant collectors to each section. The areas together with the collectors are as follows: — Area 1: The borough of Shannon, Mr. V. J. Bateman assisted by Messrs. A. S. Hyde and R. S. Downes. Area 2: The main road north, on the right of the railway line from Shannon, including Kara, Kingston, Kaihinau and all side roads up to and including Victoria Road, Mr. R. Hook assisted by Messrs. A. R. Mllls and B. Gordon. Area 3: The main road west of the railway, Okuku Road and Makerua to Wilson's Road, Mr. Sinclair assisted by Messrs. J. McNeile and R. Scanlon. Area 4: East Road, Mangaore, Ingles, Pretoria, Marinoto and Hights Roads and Main Road South to Laws, Mr. H. Aitchison assisted by Messrs. G. G. Mitchell and J. D. Campbell. Area 5: Buckley and Moutoa from the Otaru Bridge to Bowe's Road, including Springs' and Richardson's Roads, Mr. R. R. Lind assisted by Messrs. S. W. Barber and I. Easton. The date on which the collection is to be made. has. not. yet been decided, but • vrafcv be discussed fully when the committee meet the assistant collectors.
