SCHOOL COMMITTEE
SEPTEMBER MEETING There was iess. .business than usual before the September meeting of the Shannon School Committee, which was ipresided over by Mr. A. E. Jeffrey. Others present were Messrs. L. J. Bowler (secretary) , E. Barber, E. T. Wilson, I. Peni, J. Lucinsky, S. Free, F. Bradley and the headmaster, Mr. W. Dickinson. Mr. Free intimated that he proposed to donate a baseball bat to enable the children to play this game. Correspondence was read in connection with the health camp stamp saies, the committee's cooperation being asked in the matter. It was decided that the committee members would assist by personally calling on householders some time after October 1, and offering the health stamps to them. Arrangements were made for the marking of calves for the calf rearing competitions. Mr. Dickenson reported that the roll number was now 272 children. A man had been employed at the school for sorae days topping the trees' and generally cleaning up the grounds, which were now in. first class condition. Mrs. Ward had joined the teaching staff and also Mrs. Bryant, the latter in a reliev-' ing capacity. Miss Quin had resigned and Miss Denton, of the relieving staff, had been transferred.
