SOFTBALL NEEDS GROUND
PRESENT DIFFICULTIES OF THE SPORT "We as a club must find a ground to play on," said Mr. A. Truman, president of the Ajax Softball Club, at the club's annual general meeting on Wednesday. Mr. Truman explained to the meeting the fact that the club had no ground to practice or play on, and until they found one the ever-increasingly popular sport could not be carried on. Other members of the club also expressed the view that softball was the coming summer sport in the district, and would in time be more popular than cricket. In fact it was even now, more interesting than cricket. Last year th'e games were tucked away in a back corn'er and the public hardly realised that they were going on. It was pointed out that the sport should be brought before the notice of the public and the local bodies, and that they should be made to realise that it was a coming sport in the district and in fact throughout the whole of New Zealand.
