SCHOOL BASKETBALL

LEVIN'S TOJJRNEY SUCCESS Yesterday two teams from the Levin School travelled to Palmerston North to participate in a basketball tournament arranged by the Palmerston North Intermediate School. The Levin A team in the A grade defeated Palmerston North Convent 5 — 4, Lytton Street School 7 — 1, Dannevirke 4 — 3, Foxton 5 — 4, Palmerston North Intermediate A 2 — 1, and drew with Manchester Street School 3-all. The team went through the day without a loss and was declared the winners. It was as follows: — Adelaide Williams (captain), Marna Potter (vice eaptain), Marna Potter, Miror Hughes, M. Honore, J. Stewart, P. Lindon, R. Nichols and Margaret Winiata. In the B grade the Levin B team defeated Palmerston North Convent 11 — 2, Manchester Street 7 — 1, Lytton Street 6 — 3, lost to Intermediate C 4—5, and defeated Intermediate- B in the final 3 — 2. The team was: — Grace Doyle (captain), Kura Hughes (vice-captain) , Lois Millard, Ruth Green, Joan Bagrie, Beth Wrlls, . Josie Adrian, Kina Green and Myra Honore. Miss N. Leddra was in charge of the teams. The tournament was well organised and the- officials deserve praise for the excellent arrangements made for the day's Play.
