IHAKARA# M^NTlta MEETING; There was a good attendahce 6f members at the September meeting of the Ihakara Women'? Tnstitute, Mrs. Mark presiding Sympathy was expressCd with Mrs Lancaster and Mrs. Ivan Tavlor in their recent bereavements. Mrs. R J. Rolston was welcomed back after a serious illness. A letter of thanks was received from Mrs. Maclean for a clock, a gift from the settlers of the district. Grateful expression of thanks came from the matron of a Scottish Hospital to Mrs. Butt, who ha? been a regular sender of shortbreadv and biscuits throughout the war. Mrs. Stewart was chosen to be the institute's representative at the unveiling of the honours board on Sunday, September 22. and Miss Forsyth kindly offered her services as pianist. A bring-and-buv stall conducted by Mesdames Burling and Hudson, 'netted a good sum ind the crochet collar donated by Mrs. Brooks was won by MrsElliott. The results of the variou-s competitions were as follows: — Points:. Mrs. Hudson 1, Mrs. Mark 2 Flower: Miss Hall 1, Miss Forsyth and Mrs. Gardiner 2, Mrs. Bowker 3. Shrub: Mrs. Hall 1, Mrs. Mark 2, Mrs. Stacey 3. Vegetable: Mrs. Gardirier 1, Mrs. Brooks 2, MrS. Hudson 3. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames J.'H. Rolston, Nichol and Mitchell.
