RETURNED MEN IN PUBLIC SERVICE

The possibility that those who remained in Xew Zealand might be l^etter off than those who went away to tlie war would be examined very carefullv bv the Government, said the Deputy Prime Minister (Mr. Xash), discussing rehabilitation at the opening of the Public Service Association 's conference. ]Mr. Xash said he undorstood that there hail been discussions in regard to Olass G men, which had some effect on those who went away. The point should be affirmed that tlie men and women who went away should not be worse off than those who did not go away. The Public Service Association had at times been critical of the attitude of some departmental oflficers to rehabilitation, but at no tiine had it been critical of the rehabilitation policy said the president of the association (Mr. J. P. Lewin). Tn regard to rehabilitation, it was diffiruft to imagine more liberal or svmpathetic consideration by the Administration.
