NEW RADIO MARVEL
Received Monday, 9>55 p.m, NEW YORK, Sept. 9. The International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation 'demonstrated new radio transmission system whereby many programmes were simultaneously broadcast , from one station, listeners selecting the one which they wanted simply hy pressing the appropriate hutton. The system, which is akin to radar, is known as pulse time modnlation or multiplex and requires a new type of receiving set with a paraholic antenna. During the demonstration eight programmes were broadcast, including a facsimile newspaper reproduction and a "ticker" service as well as music. The demonstrator said that as many as 100 programmes could he broadcast hy using wider hands and more extensive multipl-exing equipment. It was not over futuristic to hope that it might he possible some day for anyone anywhere to talk directly to anyone else anywhere.
