EFFORT TO SAVE SHEEP
Received Thursdav, 7 p.m. JSYDXEY, August 22. The shortage of feed for stock in the northwest has become ko acute that tlie Comniissioner of Railways has arranged for as many open goods trucks as possible to carry starving sheep to areas where feed is available. Within tlie next few days 10,000 slieep will be railed to the Riverina and Victoria, wliere feed is aniple. The trucks will tlien be used to carry fodder back to d rough t-striclcen country from tlie south. The liighcst priority has been accordod trucks for tliis purpose and 850 are ali-eady in use.
