The Commonwealth Film Censor told the Premiers' Conference that he had banned a newsreel depicting I'rench bathing suits, for showing in Victoria, hecause he thought "that Victoria was not educated up to it." On the suggestion of the Federal Frime Minister (Mr. Chifley) all States, except South Australia agreed to enact uniform legislation on the lines of the Victorian Act which would allow the Commonwealth censorship and appeal authorities to act on hehalf of States.
