LEVIN BRANCH MEETS The usual monthly meeting of the Levin Red Cross Society was held recently, Miss H. E. Bowen presiding. There was a fair attendance of members, and a number of apologies were received. At least a dozen new members were added to che roll, four being from Ihakara Institute., The roll call is to conlinue, and it is . the desire of the society to reach a membership of The question of entertaining war brides, especially those from overseas, was discussed, and it was decided to hold a social afternoon on Saturday, September 7, from 2 to 5 p.m., in the hope of opening an avenue for friendliness among the old and new residents of the tawn. The sewing. _ guild report was again-more than satisfactory. Much good work had been done, the attendance was increasing and several parcels of food and goocis had been dispatched. More knitters would be welcomed, and clean clothing apceptable. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Kerr :and Duncan, and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
