OHAU SCHOOL JUBILEE
) 4^ CELEBRATIONS NEXT WEEK Approximately twelve months ago an energetic committee was set up by the residents of the Ohau district to make plans to celebrate the golden jubilee of the Ohau School. The committee has arranged a programme which will serve the interests of young and old. The celebrations will commenpe on Friday, August 23, with a gala • afternoon which has been specially organised with a view to the entertainment #of present day pupils, although many ex-pupils who will ,be in attendance will not fail to respond to thq lure of a Punch and Judy show, a magician, a ventriioquist, the Levin Pipe'Band and not forgetting to mention a specialiyprovided . afternoon tea. A grand re-union ball will be the chief attraction on Friday evening, when it is anticipated that one oftrepeated question will prove to be "Do You Remember?"Saturday afternoon will see the assembly of pupils, teachers and committee-men of the five decades," when a roll call will be taken. With the exception of the dinner and the ball, the celebrations .will take place at the school which, situated as it is, with a background of native bush, trees and plantations, lends itself as a pleasing setting for an occasion such as this. For the evening's entertainmentt * a dinner has been arranged at the local hall, and it is anticipated-that approximately 400 people will be seated. A lengthy toast-list has been prepared, and it is expected that reminicsences will be the cause for the renewal of many childhood friendships. ^ The celebrations will be concluded on Sunday morning with a church parade, which will be taken by the Rev. Paora Temuera, of Otaki.
