WOMEN'S INSTITUTES
WAITAKERE'S MEETING J ~ The August meeting of the Waitarere Women's Institute was held on Wednesday. There was quite a good attendance of members, wmle several apologies were received from members wlio were sick. The meeting npened with the institute song and aspirations, and Mrs. Fletcher welcomed members and visitors. After the usual business Mrs. Fraser gave a demonstration of smocking, at the conclusion of which a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded her. Afternoon tea was then served by the hostesses, Mrs. Stanley and Miss L M. Stanley. The competition winners were : — Plum pudding: Mrs. Edwards 1, Mrs. Coleman 2, Mrs. Fagan and Mrs. Benning 3 (equal) . Sewing, something new from something old, to be donated to the Lady GalFleteher and Mrs. Edwards 2 way Guild: Mrs. Edwards 1, Mrs. (equal), Mrs. Weldon 3.
