Record Price for Grapes
The last grapes of the season, from an Auckland suburban glasshouse, realised the record price of 16 shillings a pound at the Auckland City Markets, beating all previous records by a wide margin. Caught with Opium A Chinese tfiarket gardner, Chung Hao, was fined £35 by Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., in 'the Gisborne Court 'on a charge of being found in possession of prepared opium. The police evidence was that accused was caught at home with an opium pipe in his pocket and opium lamp burning in his bedroom. The magistrate ordered the confiscation of the equipment and opium.
