LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Sir,— I was glad to peruse the j letter appearing in your issue oi rhursday under the heading of j "Shannon State Houses" and sign- j ed by "Onlooker." "Onlooker" starts off by com- j menting on (what he thinks) is „he chief topic. of conversation in | ^he town, namely, State houses. j Sir, I would like to point out tc ! "Onlooker" that this may give the , people of surrounding towns a } wrong impression of Shannon. His i gtate house story is most patiietic. 1 He is quite definite, in fact most j adamant, that young married J people with small families have no chance of getting one of these houses. I would like to point out .o "Onlooker" that he is wrong in his facts, as I know of at least six )f our younger generation who are ; o be the tenants of tlie four j houses nearing completion. In j [act one tells me that he has j obtained the measurements of the , itting room from the builder of his home-to-be, and has ordered feltex for it. Another hopes that the paths are laid down soon, as he does not want his lawn cut up by he kids and their trikes. Being a humane sort of chap I iope the allocator (I hope that's he right word) can borrow a pair f running shoes from Uncle Bob f these chaps miss out in the election of tenants. Incidentally, oefore I sign off I would like Onlooker" not to broaicast wherc hose trailer wheels are. as perhaps : ie and I can get together and go .nto partnership as caravan buildI irs. We shouid do good business i xyith the chaps who miss out in the State house gamble. Yours etc., "CAVE DWELLER." Shannon, Aug. S.
