"IS THERE AN ALTERNATIVE TO CHRIST?"

MR. GltAHAM'S INSPIRING address Many people to-day often ask, like Thomas in John 14, "How cah we know the Way?" Many voices seek to answer this question, but Christ categorically stated, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; ho man cometh unto the Father but by Me." Christ alone was, and is qualified to lnake such a claim, for He proved by His miraculous power and His resurrection that He was the Son of God. If He was liot the Son of God as He claimed to be, then He was the world's greatest imposter, in which case He WoUld have possessed no Divine power nor have spoken with such subliine beauty the language of the Sermon on the Mount. Wherever the message of Christ has been preached, light and liberty have come. He is the only way out of the world's darkness and chaos. No other religion, person or system has wielded the influence for righteousness and peace as has the Lord Jesus Christ. If only men would accept Him and follow His teachings, what a different world it would be! Moreover, He is the only way to God and to heaven, for He said, "No man cometh unto the Father but by Me." Doing one's best is not the way, neither in religion or church ordinances, as good as these may be m themselves. Any or all of these, without an acceptance of Christ ihto the heart and life, will only leave one on the "broad way that leads to destruction." By receiving Him one begins on the way of life and the road to eternal bliss. Christ also claimed to be "the truth." We can be sure that we are on the right way if we have Him. We need not listen to the opinions-of any other. His words are truth. In Revelation 3: 20, He says, "Behold I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come unto him and he with Me." The conditions are that we hear His voice speaking to us and that we open the door and receive him in. If we do so, He then says He will come unto us. How assuring and comforting to rest on His word? We all need Him — the Saviour from sin and the only way to heaven. Why do we not then open our lives to Him and enjoy the blessing of His abiding presence? Finally, Christ said, "I am the Life." Man without Him is "dead in trespasses and sins." Even though he be prcfessedly religious or morally good, he can never possess eternal life until he receives Christ who is the Author. He died that we might live, and being raised from the dead He is alive for evermore. He could speak to Lazarus, Who had been dead four days, and command him to come forth from the grave, because He was the Life. Many people try to live the Christiah life and fail, because there is no spiritual life in them. They require, first, to be "born again" by the power of Christ, Who is "the Life." A Christmas tree may look alive, but soon it withers and dies because there is no real life within to maintain its existence. So with us. Without Christ, God says we are dead and "will always fail. To-day anyone can be saved, because Christ is the Way — sure of it because Christ is the Truth — succeed because Christ is the Life. These blessings can be ours if we will but open the door to Him. Thousands 'o-day can testify to the reality and preciousness of . the Christ they have received. The speakbr then gave some instances of these and said it was foolish to keep the door closed against Him. Why not invite Him in that night? Mr. Graham continues his campaigrr.' ih. the - Oxford Street Gos■pel Hall on Sunday at 7 p.m. when he -.will speak* on the subjeet, "A Seeking Saviour and what He ean do for men to-day." All are nvited to hear what will no doubt prove an outstanding address.
