ON THE LINKS AT BUCKLEY ! | On Saturday afternoon weather 'conditions were most unsatisfacjtory for golf at Buckley. A strosie .compgthfop,, m§r, ,Xhli9ft incorporated the second qualifymg round. The heavy rain drove many of the competitors back to thej clubhouse and a hardy few com-l !pleted the eighteen holes. Cardsi were handed in by H. Stern 78, W.. Stcrn 74, E. Wilson 79, T. S. Downes ; 92, B. Harris 75, C. Booker 76, N.i Birch 80 and W. Purcell 74. On Sunday conditions were the; rcverse, and bright sunshine pre-j vailed most of the afternoon, whenj ia number of inembers took thej "opportunir.y of spending a day unj thc links. A combined foursomej was played and the. following are ; the results: V. Picard and H. Karcna 145, F. Picard and H. Pope 150, H. Stern and J. Bell 151, R. Birch and R. S. Do'wnes 156, ti. Norris and C. Young 158. "Top Dogs" Competition In the "top dogs" competition, played during the week-end, ihe holders, N. Birch and E. Wilson, defeated K. Thomson 6 up and 5 to play. Owing to the abseaace of A. Bell, K. Thomson had to play thc match unpartncred. Handicap Reductions Thc. handicap committee adviscs that the handicap of V. Picard has ibcen reduced from 21 to 19.
